Brunnenbuberl Fountain

Neuhauser Straß e, Munchen, Germany

Description:

The Brunnenbuberl fountain is a rather interesting work of the sculptor Mathias Gasteiger, who depicted a playful boy who plugs a stream of a fountain with his finger, and he in turn sprays satyrs with water.

This sculptural composition is located almost at the Charles Gate (“Carlstor”). The fountain was installed in 1895 on the square in front of the gate, where it stood until 1964. In connection with the reconstruction of the square, it was moved to its former place.

The sculptural figures are made in a classic style, but this style made the monument not boring and feminine, but on the contrary, cheerful and humorous, which is very inherent in Munich. Brunnenbuberl is one of more than 1,000 fountains installed in the city.
