Vater-Rhein-Brunnen, Munchen, Bavaria, Germany

Description:

The third largest city in Germany is Munich. It is also called the capital of Bavaria. It is located near the Alpine Mountains on the banks of the Isar River. In Munich there are many different attractions, so to speak, for every taste. These are ancient cathedrals, palaces, extensive parks, street cafes, etc. In addition to luxurious museums and monuments, this city is also famous for its beer festivals, which have been held for almost two hundred years.

But the highlight of the city of Munich are its fountains. One of them is the Vater-Rhein-Brunnen Fountain, also known as Father Rhine Fountain. It is located on Museum Island, north of Ludwig Bridge. If you look from the bridge, you can see it very well. The fountain was created by an outstanding artist, the author of many other famous fountains of Munich, Adolf von Hildebrand. It was built in 1897-1903 in Strasbourg. And it was originally created to decorate the city of Strasbourg, but in 1932 it was moved to its homeland - to Munich.

The Vater-Rhein-Brunnen fountain was dedicated to the German god of the Rhine River. Both the figure and the face of the statue of the fountain resemble engravings with the image of God.
