Schnitterinbrunnen, Thierschplatz 1, 81825 Munchen, Germany
Description:
Munich is an interesting and multifaceted city, which is of particular interest to curious tourists. Medieval architectural ensembles, numerous art galleries give the city a special charm.
The fountains of Munich are truly sculptural masterpieces. One of the fountains, which, incidentally, is a historical monument of Bavaria, the Schnitterinbrunnen fountain. It was erected in the early XX century by the famous fountain designer Erwin Kunz.
It's also called the Reaper Fountain. The pedestal depicts a reaper, or rather a girl who harvests. The fountain is dedicated to the fertility of the land. This beautiful fountain is made of Jurassic limestone. The figure of the reaper is carved from marble, in his hands he holds bundles of wheat. At the bottom of the site there are two pools in the form of a half shell, each of them is filled with clear water.
The fountain cannot afford to consume tap water at full capacity. To fully work it would need 0.75 liters per second. Unfortunately, the spring is not equipped with such a large amount of water, as well as dumping water from the edge of the pool.
The opening of the fountain took place on June 20, 1905 with a large crowd of people.
