Seven Wells Fountain

Kirchbrunnenstrase 37, Heilbronn, Germany

Description:

The fountain "Seven Wells" is located next to the Church of St. Kilian in Heilbronn. In 1541, Balthazar Wolff built a fountain from Heilbrunna, the holy spring. There is an assumption that it was in honor of this source that the city of Heilbronn was named. From the source to the fountain led seven pipes. The fountain was surrounded by a large pool in which locals washed their laundry. Initially, the holy spring was located under the altar in the church of St. Kilian.

The church spring dried up in 1830, and in 1868 the fountain was demolished to expand the space. The place where the fountain stood was purchased by the church in 1904. Soon a decorative fountain was created on it. It was damaged during an air flight in 1944 and rebuilt after the war on the model of 1904.

The last restoration of the building took place in 2002, it is this fountain "Seven wells" now stands next to the church.
