Schuleinbrunnen Fountain

Schuleinbrunnen, Schuleinplatz 1, 81671 Munchen, Bavaria, Germany

Description:

Munich is known worldwide for its collections of ancient and classical art. Munich museums, especially with some rare exhibits, have more than 1 million visitors a year and are among the most visited museums in Europe. Other cultural institutions are among the most famous in Germany, among them: the Museum of folk studies, prehistoric state Assembly. Within the old town is the Bavarian State Opera, the Bavarian State Theatre.

But speaking about the cultural attractions of the city, it is worth remembering, of course, about its famous fountains. The city of Munich has over 700 public fountains. The oldest is Fishbrunen on Marienplatz. Another famous fountain is the Wittelsbach fountain on Lenbachplatz. Most of them today serve only as decoration, but more than seventy municipal fountains can be used if you need drinking water.

The Schuleinbrunnen or Schulen Fountain is a working fountain at Schuleinplatz Berg in Munich’s Lime district. It was created by Munich sculptor Julius Sayler. The fountain was donated to the city by Joseph Schulen and is named after him. It was also built in his name park. It is located right in the middle of this park. It was opened on September 9, 1928. Joseph Schulen, by the way, became famous not only for giving the city this wonderful fountain, but also for doing many good things for this city. For example, after the First World War, he donated a significant amount of money to the city to build new housing.
