The shoemaker's monument

Munchner Strase 46, Unterhaching, Germany

Description:

The shoemaker sculpture, located in the town of Munich, is a symbol of the traditional craft of the Felzmann family. It is located in front of the shoe store. This monument was designed in 2001 by an artist and sculptor named Grunwalder Ivo Krizan in the form of a shoemaker doing his job.

The history of the Felzmann shoe store begins in 1885, when Jacob took up the craft of a shoemaker. Throughout his life, he developed and expanded his capabilities. The shoemaker produced very high-quality and inexpensive shoes not only for ordinary locals, but also for war veterans who had problems with their feet and could not wear ordinary shoes. James also invented the first orthopedic insoles and produced custom-made artistic shoes.

Three of the four sons followed in his father's footsteps, and in 1952 Franz Felzmann bought the building at Munchner Strase 46, setting it up as a shoe store. The shoemaker’s sculpture reminds everyone of the importance of this craft.
