Thomas Witt Entomological Museum
Tengstra ß e 33, D-80796 Munchen, Germany
About the company:
The Thomas Witt Entomological Museum was housed in an old apartment of a commercial building for 40 years, and it was not until 1988 that it began to have a separate building on Tengstrasse Street, Munich. The main task of the museum is to collect, store and replenish entomological collections. Since all its employees are highly specialized specialists in various groups of insects, they continuously conduct scientific research in faunistics, systematics and zoogeography. The exposition of the museum includes about 20,000 samples of insects placed in boxes measuring 51x42 cm, as well as a huge library and archive.
For general view, not the entire collection of the institution is presented - some samples have not yet undergone special processing and are stored in paper bags filled with cotton wool, and some, especially important, are in places with limited light exposure, in boxes with sealed metal cases. The museum is open from Monday to Friday - from 09:00 to 15:00. On Saturday and Sunday, presentations, lectures and seminars for students are held here.
