About the company:
Brandhorst Museum - perhaps the youngest museum in the art area and museum district of Munich, opened on May 21, 2009, has already managed to gain fame among fans of modern art of the second half of the 20th century.
The museum building, which is based on the private collection of Annette Brandhorst, the granddaughter of the notorious inventor of Persil detergent - Hugo Henkel, and her husband Udo - looks like a work of abstract art. The 3,200-square-meter building is built of 36,000 vertical ceramic grilles painted in 23 colors, designed by Sauerbruch Hutton.
The museum’s collection includes more than 700 works, including works of classical modernism, as well as works by artists representing art after 1945.
The museum has a rich collection of 100 works by Andy Warhol and more than 60 works by Cy Tuombly, as well as works by other contemporary artists: Joseph Boyce, Mario Merz, Yannis Kunellis, Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, Alex Katz and Damien Hirst and others.
The pride of the museum is the collection of book illustrations by Pablo Picasso.
