Paleontological Museum

Richard-Wagner-StraBe 10 Munich, Germany

About the company:

The Paleontological Museum in Munich contains collections of archaeological and fossil finds made in Bavaria. The first permanent exhibition of fossils and minerals was opened in 1843. Here are the remains of ancient animals and plants, special stands are installed, which demonstrate new theories about the origin of life on the planet, as well as detailed information about the ongoing research in this area. The museum is also engaged in scientific activities and organization of excavations.

Of greatest value and interest is the skeleton of Archaeopteryx, it was a precursor to modern birds and lived in the time of dinosaurs. A special pride of the museum is the remains of a huge prehistoric elephant.

Near the Paleontological Museum there are several similar institutions. The most interesting are Old and New Pinacoteca, Pinacoteca of Contemporary Art, Glyptoteca, State Antiquarian Collection. A little further is the English Garden, a huge park in the center of Munich.
