High-rise hotel Augsburg
Imhofstrase 12, Augsburg, Germany
About the company:
High-rise hotel Augsburg is the tallest building of the eponymous city in Germany. Its height reaches 107 meters, if you do not take into account the antenna length of 51 meters, which crowns the hotel. The top of the building can be seen from anywhere in Augsburg. It has a cylindrical shape with numerous protrusions and resembles corn, which is why the locals nicknamed the hotel - Maiskolben. Today it is one of the ten tallest buildings in Bavaria and is considered one of the most prestigious hotels in Augsburg.
The building was built and opened to guests on July 2, 1972 with 279 rooms, a chic restaurant on the 35th floor and an observation deck. The construction of the hotel cost 50 million DM and was scheduled for the beginning of the 20th Munich Olympics for the nomination “symbol of modern Augsburg”. For several centuries, the building of the high-rise hotel was repeatedly sold, changed its owners and even put up for auction. The real owner of the structure is Wolfgang Eberts, who carried out major construction work in the amount of 45 million DM.
