Nuremberg

Pedestrian bridge Henkersteg

Altstadt - St. Lorenz, Nuremberg, Germany

Description:

The Henkersteg pedestrian bridge, built in the middle of the XV century, is located above the Pegnitz River, whose length is 115 kilometers.

The wooden structure in the Middle Ages was called the “Road to the executioner”. Since the executioner could not live in the city, his house stood behind the city wall, which in the Middle Ages passed on this place. The bridge just approaches his house, which is now the Executioner's Museum.

It is worth noting that the old bridge looks very modest, besides, it has been restored several times. But the building is located in the most beautiful picturesque place of Nuremberg.
