Favorite places of Romantic artists. Excursion by car to Saxon Switzerland
Description:
A walk to Saxon Switzerland is included in the main tourist program of visiting Saxony. A unique nature reserve, the national park got its name from the love of two Swiss artists living and working in Dresden in the XIX century to these romantic places.
On the way to Saxon Switzerland, we can, at your request, visit the country residence of August the Strong – Pilnitsa. The palace-park ensemble was built in the XVIII century and was intended for entertainment. On the bank of the Elbe there is a Palace by the water with a ladder descending to the river - here, between the two sphinxes, the gondola of August the Strong moored. Opposite the Palace by the water was erected, as in a mirror image, the Palace on the mountain. The luxurious center of the inner garden forms a pond with a fountain, decorated with flower beds. Of particular interest to tourists is the oldest in Europe, Kamelia, brought here from Japan in 1770. Today, its height reaches eight meters, and the diameter is nine meters. The Country Palace was recently restored, it houses the exposition of the museum of art crafts, including ancient furniture, porcelain and ceramics, textiles and metal works of the 18th-20th centuries.
After exploring the park, we continue our journey to Saxon Switzerland, captivating tourists with amazing shaped sand cliffs, as well as wide plateaus and deep crevices. We arrive at the observation decks of Mount Bastay, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Elbe, the labyrinth of gorges and the fortress “Kenigstein”. In 1851, a fortified bridge was thrown between the rocks - a place for beautiful photomotifs!
These beautiful places will remain in your memory for a long time!
