Charlottenhof English Park
Geschwister-Scholl-Straß e 34, 14471 Potsdam, Germany
Description:
Charlottenhof English Park is part of Sanssouci Park, which appeared in the XVIII century as a gift to the son of Frederick Wilhelm III – Crown Prince Frederick Wilhelm. The park is connected to Sanssouci Park in such a way that there is no clear boundary between them.
The park was designed by garden architect Peter Josef Lenne. The basis of the English landscape park lay numerous trees, artificial ponds and meadows, which replaced the swampy plain. The center of the park is, of course, the classic white building of Charlottenhof Palace.
The park also houses Roman baths, flower beds, sculptures, a rose garden and other interesting places. Here it is very convenient to walk along the narrow streets and alleys, sit in the shade of trees and enjoy nature, feel the refreshing spray of the fountain, feeling yourself in a real fairy tale.
