The Hanging Rhino Monument

Luisenplatz 9, 14471 Potsdam, Germany

Description:

The bizarre monument "Hanging Rhino" is located in one of the squares of the German city of Potsdam. It is a life-size sculpture of a white African rhino suspended on straps to a metal frame. The original composition was installed in 2005.

The authorship belongs to the Italian artist and sculptor Stefano Bombardieri. The artist depicted the rhino offended, sad, in general, causing only pity and compassion. By the way, the white rhino is much less common than its counterpart – the African black rhino. By the way, the rhinoceros is not white, but dirty - gray.

The meaning of the wonderful sculpture is so deep that it is extremely difficult to explain it. It can be assumed that the monument was made to decorate the Potsdam park, to attract the attention of visitors. Or a hidden hint that the very large and strong can also be weak and helpless. In any case, the artist gives the right to interpret the meaning of the sculpture as anyone likes.
