Galateabrunnen Fountain (Fountain of Galatea)

Alexanderstrase 54, 70182 Stuttgart, Germany

Description:

Galateabrunnen Fountain (Fountain of Galatea) is one of the most luxurious architectural and sculptural complexes in the city. There is a fountain in a green square in the eastern part of the city. The magnificent complex was founded at the end of the XIX century by order of Queen Olga.

The central figure of the complex is the statue of the nymph Galatea, which stands proudly, on a stele decorated with decorative elements, and at her feet, as befits a sea nymph, two frolic boys are located among the stone waves, fish and algae.

During the Second World War, a small part of the complex was destroyed, but after the restoration, the fountain reopened to visitors in all its former splendor. By the way, today the complex is one of the most beautiful fountains in the city.

The fountain works, as a rule, from mid-May to mid-September.
