Fountain Libellenbrunen (Fountain of Dragonfly)

Herdweg 59, Stuttgart, Germany

Description:

Fountain Libellenbruenen - Fountain of Dragonfly, is a small original composition in the Art Nouveau style. The first sculpture was created in 1904 on the site of a former watering hole for cattle, which is very symbolic. However, it was destroyed during World War II, so the current version of the sculpture appeared relatively recently.

In the bronze composition, a faun with goat ears with a wreath of leaves is captured, as well as a young girl with dragonfly wings leaning over him, who tickles the faun's ear with her stem. Perhaps the faun and Dragonfly are the personification of fertility.

After all, the faun in Roman mythology is the patron saint of shepherds, and Dragonfly is a symbol of Freya - the goddess of fertility.
