Description:
The Collegiate Church in Stuttgart is the main parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg.
In the X or XI century, a village church in the Romanesque style was built on this place. Since then, some parts of the church have been destroyed, then increased in size, new extensions were added.
During World War II, the Collegiate Church was almost completely destroyed. Only the towers on the north wall remained intact. They are one of the most famous sights of Stuttgart. In the 50s of the XX century, the church was restored, and from 1999 to 2003 it underwent the last overhaul.
A separate landmark of the Collegiate Church was a new organ consisting of 5366 pipes in 81 registers, solemnly opened in August 2004.
