The New Palace
Germany, Stuttgart, Palace Square
Description:
The new palace is located in close proximity to the Old Palace, with which they form the Palace Square in the center of Stuttgart. The building was built in the late Baroque style. In 1746-1807 the palace served as the residence of the kings of Württemberg.
The castle was almost completely destroyed by bombing during World War II, and was reconstructed between 1958 and 1964. During this time, most of the castle was rebuilt and the building housed the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. Today the castle is used by the ministries of finance and education. Public tours to the building are allowed only by special arrangement.
