Monez Palace

Schloß Monaise, 54294 Trier, Germany

Description:

Monez Palace is located on the bank of the river of the same name, in the area of Oiren, which is 7 kilometers from the Main Market Square of Trier. It was built by the architect François Mangin in 1779-1783, as the residence of the dean of Trier Cathedral. The name of the castle can be translated as “My Leisure”, which directly reflected the purpose of the castle, as the sign above the entrance to the castle reads: “Leisure with dignity”.

The style in which the Palace is built, its height, majestic terraces and loggias with columns give the building its uniqueness and peculiar lightness. The palace has reception halls on the first and second floors, and the third floor is reserved for servants.

Throughout the history of its existence, the palace changed several owners and gradually fell into decline. In its original form, it was restored in 1992-1997. Nowadays, there is a large restaurant in the Palace, which is often rented for various celebrations. And on the territory of the local park created a horse club.
