About the company:

The museum building was built in 1912-1920 in the style of neoclassicism by Theodore Fisher. However, the basis of its permanent exhibition laid collections collected a century earlier. Hearing Goethe’s call to establish a museum in Wiesbaden, the local collector von Görning handed over his collection to the city. At first, this collection was kept in the palace of the crown prince, and then a museum was built for it, while buying new exhibits.

The Wiesbaden Museum, which has exhibits in three main areas, is popular all over the world for its unique collection of expressionists. In the halls of the museum there are works by Natalia Goncharova, Vasily Kandinsky, Ilya Kabakov, Vladimir Tatlin. The jewel of the museum’s collection is paintings by Russian artist Alexei Yavlensky, who lived in Wiesbaden from 1921 to 1941. The local collection of his works consists of 90 canvases and is considered the largest in the world. By the way, Alexey Yavlensky is buried in the local Russian cemetery.

In addition to the art collection, the museum building contains exhibits “Collections of Nassau Antiques” and “Collections of Natural History”, telling about the culture and nature of the region. Here you can get acquainted with geological exhibits, learn how the famous thermal springs of Wiesbaden are arranged.
