Description:

The city of Würzburg, the capital of the bishops and dukes of Franconia, has been a tourist attraction since the Middle Ages. Bavaria is a beer land, but Würzburg is famous for its Franconian wines. Goethe filled his cellar here (they say he ordered 800 bottles of wine a year).

The city is located in the valley of the Main, around - grape slopes, which, like an amphitheater, rise above the city. We will start our walk with the episcopal residence – Marienberg Castle. Here from the 12th to the 18th century lived the Bishop of Würzburg, who was afraid of the discontent and unrest of his freedom-loving subjects.

Then our walk continues on the old bridge - it resembles the Charles Bridge in Prague and it was built around the same time. We will pass near the old town hall, St. Mary’s Church, through the market square and enter the Dome Cathedral, which was built in the 11th century.

Finally, the episcopal residence. It is a monumental palace and park that was built in the 17th century in the high Baroque style and is not inferior to the best Italian examples. The grand staircase, soda hall, audience halls were painted by the Italian icon painter Tiepolo. Episcopal residence, garden and church, which are treasures of world architecture and are protected by UNESCO.

We will finish our walk at the old bridge in the restaurant where the mill was once located.
