Excursion to Maya, Copan, Honduras
Description:
The main value of Copan is the unique hieroglyphs that adorn his buildings. Most of the characters tell about the history of the city, its political life, thanks to which the names of many of its rulers are known. A real work of art is considered to be a staircase with hieroglyphs (width - 10 m, height - 20 m), built by the Maya during the classical period. Each of its 63 steps is decorated with intricate writing, and balustrades depicting snakes and birds are erected on the sides. A recognizable symbol of Copan is the Rosalil temple, striking with bright, juicy colors that have not faded over time.
