Meteora

Description:

Visit Meteora with us. Here, on the tops of steep cliffs, several hundred meters high, 6 active monasteries were attached. Visitors are open. Women are not allowed to go to St. Athos, but here you are always welcome. The two monasteries are female.

The name "meteors" is translated as "rising between heaven and earth". Monasteries seem to be elevators that gently lift monks to heaven. By the way, quite practical loads for a long time were raised in a similar way.

Coming to Meteora, each pilgrim (and in the monastery all tourists are pilgrims) is between the earthly world and the heavenly. Looking from a bird's eye view at the amazing beauty of the surrounding landscape, we involuntarily fly away after the look. Considering the impressive frescoes of temples, we feel the futility of topical troubles. We accept the divine nature of existence revealed through the works of painters.

Meteora is one of the classic examples of church painting of temples, which presents both a soft Macedonian school and an emotional Cretan one. It was the latter that gave the world the famous El Greco - Domenic Theoktocopoulos. In Meteora wrote the famous Theophan of Crete. The Cretan school invites the viewer to participate in the torments and experiences. Perhaps this splendor of colors and emotions is on the verge of sin. The choice is left to the man himself.

And that choice brings us to Meteora. It gives us the opportunity here, between heaven and earth, not only to witness a unique natural phenomenon that knows nothing similar in the world, but to rise closer to God. In order to get an unusual power charge of energy.

Let us open ourselves to this grace. Let's look into the eyes of the saints. Let them heal all our pains and infirmities. Between heaven and earth, it's possible. Let us turn away from the vanity and approach the revelation.
