Greek Evangelical Church
50 Amalias Avenue, Athens, 10558
Description:
The Greek Evangelical Church dates from 1871. It is located in the center of the Greek capital. It belongs to the Presbyterian direction and is considered the first Protestant temple. It became an evangelical church thanks to Michael Kalopotakis. He was the first evangelist, united the Greek community around him, became the founder of the Star of the East magazine. Michael was an educated man who organized a Sunday school where children were taught in Greek. Unfortunately, in its original form, the building has not survived. It was restored in 1956. You can get by metro or city bus to Metropoleos Square.
