Here is the Honest Head of St. Basil. The date of foundation is 1540.

During the Turkish occupation, it became a refuge for local residents, where a secret Greek school also functioned. Also, historical sources mention the great role of the monastery in the national liberation war of 1821-1829. Through the efforts of the monks, a hospital was created on the territory of the monastery.

In 1824, the monastery was burned down by the Turks, restored several decades later. Since that time, part of the wing and frescoes of the 18th century have been preserved. A kilometer from the monastery is a holy spring.

According to legend, David struck a staff in this place, and hammered the spring. On November 1, the memory of St. David is honored. It is located on the island of Eubia, 80 kilometers from Athens. You can get there by bus or rented car.
