Ruins of the Temple of Zeus of Nemea

Nemeas, Athens, 104 43, Greece

Description:

The ruins of the temple of Zeus of Nemea are a popular attraction of the small town of Nemea, well known to many tourists for the events described in the myth of Heracles and the Nemean Lion. The construction of the ancient city is located in the southwestern part of the country, near Corinth and the road to Mycenae. In ancient times, Nemea was known for the fact that it was here that sports were held, and the focus of the games was the temple complex.

The ruins of the temple complex have been thoroughly investigated by archaeologists. To date, only three thin Doric columns towering above the ruins are relatively well preserved. In addition to the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, there are several Attic buildings in the city, as well as a beautiful archaeological museum and one of the oldest, world-famous stadiums in Greece.
