Pandrosso Street
Description:
Pandrosso Street is considered one of the old streets of Athens, where trade developed. Back in the 19th century, this place was a large city market, but it burned down in 1885.
Today it is a place where the inner world of the Greek people is revealed. It is named after the legendary Greek woman who, despite the wrath of the gods, invented a way to fish, and saved people close to the gods from starvation.
There is also a legend that fighters for the independence of Greece gathered here. After the fire, the street began to recover, but shops and workshops began to place along its entire length. Thus, the former market has grown into a shopping street.
Today, the street is pedestrian, attracting Greek traditions and culture. You can buy everything from food to clothes and shoes. Tourists are offered souvenirs produced in local workshops. A number of them you can order the master and observe the manufacturing process. Finding the street is easy. It is located in the center of Athens, below the Acropolis. If you live on the outskirts, then use public transport or a taxi.
