Bank of Greece Museum

In the center of Athens, next to the University, the Academy and the National Library, stands the building of the Bank of Greece, built in the neoclassical style. The Bank of Greece Museum was opened to visitors in 2010.

The Bank of Greece building is also interesting. The project was selected in the late 20s of the last century on the basis of the announced competition. Of the dozens of projects presented, the option proposed by architects Zumpulides and Papadakis was chosen. Construction began in 1933 and on April 4, 1938, the Bank’s premises were opened to the first visitors. The building was repeatedly restored and completed. The last additional construction was carried out in 1982, when another floor was added to the construction of the building.
