Athens City Museum

paparrighopoulou, 5 and 7, Athens, Greece

About the company:

Founded in 1980, the museum recreates the development of Athens since the Frankish rule. In the mansion on Paparrigopoulou, 7 at one time lived the first king of Greece Otto with his wife Amalia - so the first floor is dedicated to their memory and immerses visitors in the romantic and heroic atmosphere of those times. In another museum building, on Paparrigopoulou 5 (connected to the first building by a covered bridge) is an art gallery, as well as rooms representing the life of the Athenian aristocracy of the nineteenth century.

The museum recreates the development of Athens since the rule of the Franks.

The exposition of the museum also contains family portraits, maps, engravings of the royal family, a manuscript of the Constitution of 1843, stamp shields of the rulers of Athens, a model of the city of 1842, made by Janis Travlos, and other exhibits illustrating various historical subjects.
