Museum of History of the University of Athens
About the company:
The Museum of History of the University of Athens was opened in 1974, its exhibitions are dedicated to the history of the University.
The museum is located in a building that was tentatively built in the second half of the 17th century, but the exact date was not set.
At different times, the building was used as a creative club, a residential mansion, in 1835 a school was opened in it, and in 1837 the University of Athens was opened in this building. Four years later, a new building was built for the University, and this mansion became useless to anyone and constantly changed its owners.
In 1961, the building was returned to the University, which restored the mansion and opened a museum dedicated to its history. The collection of the museum includes many rare manuscripts, manuscripts, portraits of the rectors of the University, as well as various works of graduates of the University.
