This excursion will introduce you to the most popular of the gods of Olympus - Apallon. In the sanctuary, the mysterious Pythia predicted fate. On the slopes of the majestic Parnassus are Delphi with the famous temple of Apallon, with the Castal Key - the source of inspiration for poets. The caves and mountains of Parnassus were considered the habitat of nymphs. Delphs impress with the incredible beauty of the mountain landscape. The sheer cliffs, the bright sun, the unusual blueness of the sky, combined with the majestic temple and cultural buildings, puzzle their role and significance in ancient times. Here the idea of the Olympics was born, and predictions about the construction of new cities were given. In the sanctuary received prophecies about their fate, Laios and his son Oedipus (kings of the city of Thebes). The Athenians defined their strategy during the Greco-Persian Wars, from the predictions of the sanctuary. The predictions of the sanctuary in Delphi regulated the political relations between the cities of the states of Greece.
We leave the city of Athens by comfortable transport in the northern direction along the national highway connecting Athens with Thessaloniki. We pass the city of Thebes, famous for its impregnable seven-gate fortress walls. Thebes is the oldest city in Europe founded by Cadmus, the brother of Europe. After Thebes, we head west. We make a small stop in one of the road cafes. Continuing our journey, we pass the city of Livadya and the picturesque mountain village of Arakhov. Arakhova is at an altitude of a thousand meters above sea level. This is the highest point of our route. After three hours of travel from Athens, we arrive at Delphi. We begin our acquaintance with the sanctuary from the Castal Key. He has not lost his wonderful qualities of rejuvenation and deliverance from sins.
