Mysterious Delphi

This is a walking tour to the foot of Mount Parnassus, where in ancient times was the main spiritual center of the Hellenic world. We will go to Delphi – a place that the ancient Greeks considered the Navel of the Earth.

We will start with a visit to the archaeological complex, where you will see the famous temple of Apollo. It was here that the mysterious Pythia gave her prophecies that determined the fate of kingdoms and heroes. You will learn how the Delphic oracle functioned, why it was addressed by powerful people of antiquity and how this place became a symbol of the unity of Greek civilization. We will walk along the Sacred Way, see the ancient treasuries, the majestic theater and the stadium where the Pythian Games were held. In the Delph Museum we will talk in detail about the masterpieces of ancient art, including the famous “Delphian charioteer” and chrysoelephantine sculptures of Apollo and Artemis.

Further, our way will lie to the picturesque town of Arakhov, located at an altitude of almost a thousand meters above sea level. We will walk through the narrow cobbled streets among the traditional stone houses with tiled roofs. Arakhova is famous for its unique flavor and gastronomy: you can taste the famous local cheese Formaela, which is produced only here, and enjoy aromatic coffee in the cozy central square. You will also have time to dine in one of the traditional mountain taverns, where magnificent meat dishes and local delicacies are prepared, as well as purchase unique handmade textiles, for which the masters of Arakhov have long been known.
