Dohiar Monastery

Dohiar Monastery, which is located in Greece, is one of the largest cultural monuments. Pilgrims and tourists from all over the world flock here. In the hierarchy of monasteries located on the holy Mount Athos, the Dohiar Monastery occupies an honorable tenth place. It is one of the largest, and it is in it that one of the most revered sacred icons of the Mother of God is kept - the miraculous Skoropodishnitsa. In addition to it, there are enough other relics in the temple: for example, a piece of the Life-Creating Cross or the relics of several other saints.

You can get to the monastery of Dohiar on foot, if you go from the monastery of Xenophon, you need to walk at least half an hour, but the road is fertile, through gardens and olive trees. All monasteries on Mount Athos can be reached from Uranopolis, from where the ferry departs. Such a ferry goes directly through Dohiar and further sails towards the port of Daphne.
