Ethnographic Museum of Chania
About the company:
Ethnographic Museum of Chania is one of the few places where you can see with your own eyes how people lived on the island of Crete hundreds and thousands of years ago.
Chania is the second largest city of the island, notable for its well-preserved architectural monuments of the Venetian and Turkish eras. No exception - and the village of Galavohori, located 25 kilometers southeast of Chania. In this picturesque place with a rich history, in an ancient building built according to Venetian architectural canons, there is an Ethnographic Museum.
The exposition of the museum presents pottery, a collection of traditional costumes, stone carving, wood, tapestries and other works of decorative and applied art. Visiting these halls is the best way to get an authentic view of Cretan life in the past. The historical section of the museum exhibits documents telling about the struggle of Crete for independence from the Ottoman conquerors.
The museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 9.30 to 15.00 and from 18.00 to 21.00.
