Three Lives of Ancient Messina

Description:

Messina was created in the 4th century BC in contrast to Sparta at the foot of the sacred mountain Itoma, where, according to legend, Zeus Itomsky was born and grew up. Little Zeus was raised here by two nymphs, Itom and Ned, who steal water from the legendary spring of Clepsider to drink and bathe the divine infant. The spring to this day gives its magical moisture to locals and strangers.

This largest archaeological complex of the Peloponnese is located 60 km from Homeric Pylos. The city-mystery, built by helots and flourished in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, it surpassed even Athens in area! Impress with its safety and size numerous public buildings - temples, theaters, stadium, gymnasium, Asklepion ... Pausanias called Messina “the city of sculptures”, and she justifies this name. This is my favorite tour – and I can say that almost all my tourists who visited Olympia first, in Messina, exclaim something similar: “Olympia is resting!” And the local tavern with unusually delicious cuisine is visited by world celebrities!
