Description:
Castoria Canyon is a fabulous corner of nature, rich in vegetation and amazing natural monuments. Its length is 15 km, and the depth varies from 80 to 100 meters. On the stone slopes, along the winding river, forming rapids and swirls, you can find small and large cave formations, in ancient times served as a refuge for numerous human communities. This is evidenced by rock paintings of animals and scenes from life, dating from the V-VI century BC. Above the canyon is a pedestrian bridge, built here in 1960. It offers a magnificent view, so you can often meet photographers here.
Castoria Canyon is famous for its rich vegetation. Here you can find about 30 species of broadleaf plants, among which about 10 are considered endangered. It is always cool here, the air is clean and fresh even on a hot summer day.
From September to October, the canyon is always crowded, which is associated with rafting competitions.
