Lindos with a visit to the Acropolis

The city of Lindos is the third most popular place in Greece, which deserves careful study in terms of history, architecture, religion and culture. The tour can be conducted on foot or with a combination of car and walk.

Our journey begins with the Acropolis of Lindos, where we will talk about Greek acropolises, the cult of the goddess Athena, architecture and its symbolism. You will hear about the miracles of pagan gods and Christian saints, about the knights and Alexander the Great. We will reveal Lindos’ connections with the legendary Hercules and Helena of Troy, and explain why the tyrant is especially revered here. Acropolis will give panoramic views and magnificent photos.

Then we will visit the captain’s house of the XVII century, where we will get acquainted with the history of the captains of Lindos, the trade of that time, the influence of the knights and Ottomans, as well as study the technologies of that period and their impact on the economy of the city. The Church of the XIII century will surprise with its frescoes depicting Saint Psoglavtsev, God the Father, the Judgment stage and Geena of Fire, as well as Old Testament subjects and the history of mankind through the prism of the Bible.

The ancient theater of Lindos will be a guide in the study of the ancient buildings of the city and their importance in the life of ancient society.

The next stage of the tour will be an acquaintance with Rhodes ceramics and a master class on the manufacture of clay vessel, where you can feel like a real artisan.

The tour will end with the Temple of the Virgin of Tsambika, known for its architecture and holy relic. The image of the Virgin Tsambika was for many a symbol of hope and salvation. We will talk about the miracles associated with this image, and about the traditions that have survived to this day.
