One day at Olympus

Who among us did not read ancient myths as a child? Who did not imagine himself in the place of the almighty Zeus or imagined himself the handsome Apollo, the goddess of beauty Aphrodite, the lord of the seas Poseidon? I invite you on a journey to the legendary habitat of the all-powerful gods - Mount Olympus!
The trip is all day long. Of course, I will not tire you with physical exertion, but emotionally I guarantee even a “reset”. Climbing is not planned, so for those who do not like to walk, this option is very suitable. We will begin our journey with a modern convent, which is popularly called “Paradise on Earth”. This is a place of extraordinary beauty at the foot of Olympus, where you will have the opportunity to touch Orthodox shrines, as well as feel the hospitality of nuns (no guest leaves without a cup of Greek coffee and Lucum).
Next, we will move to the city of Zeus – the archaeological park Dion. It was from there that Alexander the Great began his famous campaign to Asia, sacrificing 100 bulls. In Dion we will visit the sanctuaries of the ancient gods, the residential part of the city, see the remains of dwellings, palestras, the main road, mosaics, baths, odeon. In the village of Litohoro you will have the opportunity to replenish your strength in one of the taverns. After that, we'll move on. The plans are to climb by car to an altitude of 1100 m, where everyone leaves their cars and continues walking to the top of Olympus. We will visit the monastery of St. Dionysius of the 16th century (St. Dionysius is the patron saint of Pieria, the region in which Olympus is located).
We will also walk along the river Enipeas through wooden bridges and turquoise backwaters with waterfalls to the cave of Dionysius with a delicious source of drinking holy water. A walk to the cave will take about an hour – because you, dear travelers, have to walk a little along the paths of Olympus to feel it! We will complete the trip in a picturesque mountain village, settling in a cozy tavern, sipping herbal tea and enjoying the beautiful view of the Olympic Riviera.
