Simeon Tsanidis Guide in Thessaloniki
About me and my experience
I was born in Kazakhstan. He received a musical education in Sochi.
I have lived in Greece since 1990. Despite the fact that I have not received an academic education in history, I can still say that I know the ancient history of Greece quite well and, most importantly, I love it very much.
Greece is the country where antiquity was born, so you can talk about the ancient Greeks here endlessly, this topic is almost inexhaustible. For many years I have accompanied pilgrims to Mount Athos, to Meteora, to the islands of Eubia, Corfu, Aegina, Bari, etc. In Greece, antiquity is closely intertwined with Christianity, so there is a huge number of Orthodox monasteries and even places described in the Bible (in the book of Acts of the Holy Apostles).
You can repeat the path of the Apostle Paul from Philip to the Athenian Areopagus, see a large number of Byzantine temples that have survived in the city of Thessaloniki, and Mount Athos.
Byzantine heritage is another of my favorite topics, which I try to learn as deeply as possible and share my knowledge with pilgrims The last 7 years in winter I go to the monastery of Gerasim of Jordan, located in the Judean desert in the Holy Land, and work there as a worker.
The abbot of the monastery is Father Christost, whom I love very much.
In addition to Greece, I accompany individual groups and pilgrims to Christian sites in Israel, receiving the blessing of the Patriarch of Jerusalem for this work.
There is a saying in the East: “He who loves his job does not work.” That’s how I don’t think it’s work, but just communication with interesting and kind people.
