Church of St. Nicholas Orfanos

The Church of St. Nicholas is located in the Greek city of Thessaloniki. Refers to the early Byzantine period, built in the time of Theodosius, included in the list of UNESCO sites. A unique relic, which throughout its existence remained a Christian temple. There are still frescoes from 1310-1320. They are located along the walls inside the church. These are images of saints, drawings with scenes of Christian holidays, the Old Testament, the lives of saints, etc. In the center is the iconostasis of the fifteenth century. The size of the temple is small, the capitals are decorated with jagged leaves. There are two chapels in the church. The restoration was carried out in 1980. At the moment, the Inspectorate of Modern Monuments is located here. The church is located in the central part of Thessaloniki, which can be reached by city bus 01X in the afternoon or 01N at night to the stop "Aoristotelian Square".
