Ancient city of Stagira

Olympiada, Greece

Description:

Ancient Stagira is a small-sized Greek polis located on the peninsula of Halkidiki, which became deserted in the 1st century BC. This quiet place became famous all over the world due to the fact that it was here that Aristotle was born - one of the most famous philosophers of his time and mentor of Alexander the Great.

Now here you can find the yellowed ruins of old walls and soothing landscapes of the bay. From the top of the fortress there is a beautiful view of the Aegean Sea. Nearby are the Aristotle Park and the village of the Olympiad, where you can eat delicious fresh seafood.

To get to the remains of the policy, you will have to overcome 8 kilometers from the modern village of Stagir to the small Liotopi Peninsula. This can be done by car or on foot.
