Edessa Falls
Description:
Edessa is the most water-rich city in Europe and the world. Previously, it was even called Wodena (from the word “water”). Waterfalls are scattered throughout the city, so the name “Water City” has been preserved. The waterfalls were caused by the earthquake of 1935. The relief was changed, large and small cascades appeared, which were transformed by human hands into extraordinary beauty. Koranos Falls is the largest, named after the king of Macedonia. There are observation decks near it. And going to the bridge, you can fully enjoy the beauty of a natural miracle. Fertile soil and excess moisture allowed this place to create a unique park. Edessa is a city of lovers. There is a legend that if couples visit the waterfalls, their feelings will become even stronger.
You can get to Edessa by city bus from Thessaloniki, and there to the park by taxi, and to the waterfalls to climb by special paths and stairs.
