Journey to the island of Simi

If you want to see the real Simi, this tour is for you! We will go on a flight catamaran, which will take us to the island in just 1 hour, and on the island itself we will have as much as 9 hours to explore its most interesting corners. For ease of movement, we will use a car, which will allow us to cover key attractions without haste.

We will visit two monasteries of Archangel Michael. One of them is built as a fortress, and its temple consists of two churches located one above the other. Here you will see the colossal icon of Mikhail Rukunyotis, which you can touch, and get acquainted with the monastic life: numerous buildings, tanks and even an oil factory. In the second monastery, we will learn why archangels are so revered on the island, what traditions are associated with belief in them, as well as hear stories about miracles and fishers of the sea sponge who honor the Archangel. The participation of monks in the resistance to the Axis countries is one of the most interesting and dramatic pages in the history of Simi.

In the capital of the island of Simi, you will get acquainted with the history of the city, the origin of fashion for neoclassical architecture and the way of life of locals then and today. We learn everything about the sea sponge: how it is extracted, what to pay attention to when choosing and what determines its quality.

Despite the rocky landscape, the island has cozy coves with crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea, where you can swim. In one of the local taverns, you will taste the sea delicacies for which Simi is famous. The tour will end with free time for shopping and searching for unique souvenirs.
