History of the Macedonian kings: Pella - Veria - Vergina

Excursion to Pella, Veria and Vergina will plunge you into antiquity, introduce you to the three main cities of Ancient Macedonia and tell the story of the royal family, which included the Great Alexander of Macedon.

Pella is an archaeological park on the site of one of the most important cities of the Macedonian kingdom, in which Alexander the Great was born. Veria is another city with a centuries-old history, located in a picturesque gorge, attracts visitors with a unique flavor, due to the interweaving of cultures and its multinational community. Located on the Via Egnatia Road, Veria was for many centuries the trading, cultural and religious center of Macedonia, and later the Roman and Byzantine Empires.

Vergina (ancient Aeges) is the first capital of the Macedonian kingdom. Today, the archaeological excavations of this settlement and the royal tombs located here (included in the UNESCO World Heritage List) are rightly considered one of the most remarkable historical sites of Northern Greece.
