Hozapini Lake
Akhaltsikhe, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Georgia
Description:
Lake Khozapini in Akhaltsikhe is located in Georgia in Samtskhe-Javakheti district.
This border lake is considered the largest in Georgia in the Javakhet Plateau. The area is 26.6 square kilometers, its depth is about three meters.
Due to the relatively dry climate and periodic strong volcanic eruptions, the hydrographic network of the lake is very poorly developed. It is adjacent to small rivers: Shaori, Sabadostskali, Rodionovskistskali.
The only village located near the lake is the village of Kartsakhi. It is located on the border of Georgia with Turkey and is located on the banks of the small river Kura.
To get there is very simple: two federal highways pass through the city of Akaltsikhe: one towards Turkey, the other towards Tbilisi. On the main city square there is a train and bus station. You can also get by bus from Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Gori and Borjomi.
