The Transfiguration of God

Description:

The Transfiguration of God
In order to show His disciples this heavenly spiritual glory that will follow temporary sufferings, the Lord was transformed before his disciples Peter, James and John on Mount Tabor – His face shone like the sun, His clothes became white as light.

There were two prophets, Moses and Elijah, who spoke to the Lord about his coming. A cloud overshadowed them and a voice came out of it, “This is my beloved Son, O Him of good will, listen to Him.”

By celebrating the Transfiguration of the Lord, the Church solemnly confesses and glorifies the union of God and humanity in the person of Jesus Christ. By His Transfiguration, the Lord pleased to protect His disciples from despondency and raised them to the highest hope in the midst of the disasters that were to befall them in the world.

The feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord belongs to the 12 largest Orthodox holidays. People call this day the Second Savior.

It's a traditional harvest festival. On this day in the churches consecrate the fruits of the earth, that is, apples, pears, plums, etc. The most popular and honored are apples, even there is a third name of the holiday "Apple Spas". The consecration of apples is most awaited by mothers whose children have died, and daughters whose mothers have died, since according to legend, apples can be consumed only after the Savior.

In particular, beekeepers are preparing for this day. They need to consecrate the hives, treat honey to neighbors, especially orphans and infirm.
