The complex is carved into the rocks of about 20 monasteries and covers the territory of three districts of Georgia - Gardaban, Sagaredzhi and Signakh. The main monastery is the Lavra of St. David, which is located on the northern slope of the mountain separating Georgia and Azerbaijan.
