The Georgian Military Road is one of the most picturesque roads in the Caucasus. It follows the ancient historical path that connected the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia through the Daryal Gorge, its description is available from the ancient Greeks. Throughout the road there are Georgian monuments of antiquity: cathedrals, fortresses, watchtowers.
On the Georgian Military Road there is also the ancient capital of Georgia - Mtskheta, where we will visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - one of the oldest Christian churches and one of the most important in Georgia. In this cathedral is the robe of the Savior.
Further along the route along the Georgian Military Road stands the Ananur complex of the 16th century. It is located on the shore of the Zhinval reservoir, the color of which is unusually turquoise. The fortress in the past was a stone key to the Aragvi gorge and the residence of large feudal lords who played a prominent role in the political life of Eastern Georgia of the XVIII century.
Further, already high in the mountains is Gudauri - ski resort, which does not lose its relevance in the summer. Here, the panoramic arch offers a picturesque view of the mountains, the gorge, and the lake deep below. It looks like all of Georgia is under your feet.
Gergeti Temple or Gergeti Trinity is an amazing place - a combination of greenery, snow and stone antiquity is just a fabulous sight that is actually worth seeing for everyone. From the observation deck on Mount Gerget, an amazing panorama of the valley and the majestic Kazbek opens.
Darial gorge is a very picturesque place where the rocks rest against the sky. Over the road winding along the mountain cornice, rocks hang low. They are stretching steeply, almost a kilometer up. It is very difficult to describe all the beauty of this road, and list all the sights that we will see during our tour. But one thing is obvious, you must see this beauty with your own eyes.
