Kutaisi - Gelati - Tskaltubo - Prometheus Cave
Description:
Day 1. We meet in Kutaisi on the Central Square. It is one of the oldest cities in Transcaucasia. In different periods it served as the capital of successive kingdoms in Georgia: Colchis, Iberia (Kartli), Abkhazia and Imereti. At the same time, it is one of the most underrated tourist cities in Georgia. Tbilisi is the capital and Paris of the East, Batumi is a seaside resort, Telavi is the center of wine-growing Kakheti, and Kutaisi is most often considered only as a hub for entering / leaving the country. Although sightseeing Kutaisi and its surroundings can easily take a week - and you will not get bored.
We will walk around the city center, look at the Green Market, one of the largest in Georgia, consider unusual monuments and eclectic streets. I will introduce you to the majestic witness of the Golden Age of Georgia - Bagrati Cathedral, towering over the city.
After lunch in an atmospheric restaurant, we head to Gelati, the most famous monastery in Western Georgia. We will look at unique frescoes, talk about Georgian medieval architecture, burials in the monastery and the Gelati Academy.
Next we go to the resort town of Tskaltubo. Check in one of the most unusual hotels in Georgia - the restored sanatorium of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR, dine and gain strength before the next day of our trip.
Day 2.
After breakfast, I will take a tour of the sanatorium. Spacious halls, a hall for solemn events, a dining room - here once rested thousands of citizens of the country of the Soviets. We will talk about the right to rest and the majestic architecture of the Palaces for the people.
All sanatoriums of Tskhaltubo can be divided into three groups according to the eras in which they were built: Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev. And since the architecture, especially the resort, is some idea of the ideal organization of life, such a prototype of paradise on Earth, we will have the opportunity to see how this image has changed.
At the moment, most of the sanatoriums are in ruins and waiting for their fate - destruction or reconstruction. So now you have a unique opportunity to see many architectural details without retouching and try to imagine what it was like, the day of the Soviet resort in Tskaltubo.
We will visit the park and the restored baths. At the end of the tour you can visit the SPA.
Day 3.

I'll tell you when the cave got its name, we'll appreciate the wonderful lighting of the cave, you'll learn about cave systems in different parts of the planet and some stories and stories from my speleological experience.
