Okay. Heading to Svaneti, and that the road was not tedious, the path to Svaneti divided into 2 days.
And more: in Svaneti, in Mestia, we arrive on December 30, not on the 31st, to celebrate the New Year calmly - without fuss and without fatigue from a long road.
29.12.2023 (Day 1)
Tbilisi - Kutaisi
We meet at your hotel and head towards Western Georgia, towards Kutaisi. But we go by an unusual route: not through the Rikoti Pass, but on a slightly longer road, because we come to the little-known mountain corners of Georgia - Sachkhere and Chiatura.
On the way to the town of Sachkhere, we will have lunch, and at the same time we will visit a very interesting and beautiful city - the city of Chiatura, and there we will visit one of the holy places of Georgia - the Pillar of Katskhi.
We'll be in Kutaisi by tonight. Overnight and dinner in Kutaisi.
I recommend Hotel Lileo.
30.12.2023 (Day 2)
Kutaisi - Mestia
After breakfast, we head towards Svaneti. The pass will be held in daylight, admiring and capturing the mountain landscapes of fabulous Svaneti.
On the way, we drive to the Inguri HPP reservoir, admire the scale of the dam and the beauty of this area.
During a snack, enjoy the local delicacy of Cubdaria continue to Mestia, stopping for a photo against the backdrop of the stunning landscapes of Svaneti nature.
We'll be in Mestia by tonight. Overnight in the cozy hotel Mountain Mestia.
31.12.2023 (Day 3)
Mestia and the New Year
After breakfast – walk around the city with medieval skyscrapers. It is worth noting that as for Manhattan 100-200-meter skyscrapers are a hallmark, and since the VIII century, these 30-40-meter towers amaze with the number and architectural solutions of experts and not only.
Visit the sights of Mestia, including the museum, which is in fact the seventh of the Golden Fund of Georgia.
In the evening - preparation for the festive New Year's dinner. A New Year's concert will be held in the center of Mestia.
From 23:00 the New Year festive meal begins, and by 00:00 we leave the restaurant to celebrate the New Year with fireworks and a concert.
We usually return to the hotel in the morning.
01.01.2024 (Day 4)
After an impressive New Year’s feast, we gather as much as possible – closer to lunch – and go to explore the stunning surroundings of Mestia: Khatsvali and Heshkili.
After breakfast, closer to lunch, we climb the cable car to the ski resort of Khatsvali. The rope works at night, as the track is illuminated.
In the evening - dinner at the hotel (well or near the cash register). Overnight at the Mountain Mestia Hotel.
02.01.2024 (Day 5)
Mestia - Tetnulli
(Destiny Day - as you spend, so will the whole year 😉)
From Mestia, we climb to the Tetnuldi ski resort. It should be noted that this resort is one of the steepest not only in Georgia in terms of the height of cable cars and the views that open from there!
If desired, we ski, snowmobiles, and in clear sunny weather even take pictures in swimsuits.
By noon – a picnic: take with us khachapuri, kubdari, vinishko, warm on fire and enjoy the gifts of Georgian cuisine, wine and amazing views.
By evening, we're going back to Mestia.
03.01.2024 (Day 6)
Mestia - Ushguli
After breakfast from Mestia, we head to the highest mountain settlement in Europe - the community of Ushguli.
Admire the views, ancient medieval towers of the highest mountain with a glacier - Shhara.
We visit the pearl of Svaneti - the monastery of Lamaria (VIII century). In sunny weather, you can ride horses to the sources of the Inguri River at the foot of the Shhara glacier.
On the way - a picnic, admire the largest glacier Shhara.
In the evening we return to Mestia, where we will have a warm Christmas dinner (in the mountains especially celebrate the Old New Year).
04.01.2024 (Day 7)
Mestia - Tbilisi
After breakfast, we head for Tbilisi. On the way, if there is time, we visit the ancient city of Colchis - Nokalakevi-Archeopolis (where the Golden Fleece was stolen at one time).
We continue to Tbilisi.
